Welcome — Staff Walkthrough

19 shots.
Same order.
Every car.

The Car City Photo & Listing Standard, shot by shot — like the old TradeRev walkaround. Follow the prompts, take the picture, move to the next. No guessing what comes next.

The rules — read before you shoot

From the Employee Handbook — Photo & Listing Standard. No exceptions.

1

Shoot after safety and full detail — never before. A photographed car is a finished car.

2

Same 19 shots, same order, every car, every time. If a shot doesn’t apply (e.g. no infotainment screen), note it and move on — don’t skip silently.

3

Shots 1–5 (marked BACKDROP) get the Car City backdrop treatment. Interiors and close-ups are published as shot.

4

Landscape orientation, car fills the frame, no people, and no readable plates of other customers’ vehicles in the background. Every shot screen shows an outline diagram — match it before you shoot, then check it overlaid on your photo.

5

Photograph flaws, don’t hide them.

6

When the set is complete, mark the Pictures column DONE in the CAR CITY LIST. A unit goes live only with the full set and an approved asking price.

Start a vehicle

Stock number is required — it names every photo file at the end.

Enter the stock number to start — check the CAR CITY LIST if you’re not sure.

Step 0 — VIN

Take the VIN plate photo — driver-side windshield corner or the driver’s door jamb sticker. The app reads the VIN right from the photo, fills it in below, and decodes it for you. No typing needed unless the read misses — then type it as the backup.

How it should lookFill the frame with the plate / sticker only. Every character sharp — no glare, no fingers over the numbers. The app reads the VIN from this photo, so closer and sharper is better.

No VIN photo yet.
Tap Take VIN Photo below — get close so every character is readable.

INTERNAL ONLY. The VIN photo travels with the set as verification — it is never part of the website gallery.

Vehicle details

Filled in by the VIN decode — correct anything by hand if it looks off.

No signal on the lot? Skip the decode — shoot the VIN photo and start. The decode gets done later from the photo.

The 19 shots

In order. You’ll get each one on its own screen.

Photos stay on this phone while you shoot. On the finish screen, one big SEND button pushes the whole set straight in — no downloading, no emailing files. Then mark Pictures DONE in the CAR CITY LIST.
